Dr. Saundra Buys, MD
Dr. Buys is Chief of the Division on Oncology at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, one of the leading cancer research centers and hospitals in the United States. She is also a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and a member of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program.
Dr. Robert Gatenby, MD.
Dr. Gatenby is the Department Chair of Radiology and co-director of Cancer Biology and Evolution Program at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Gatenby spearheaded the formation of a new program at Moffitt titled Integrative Mathematical Oncology (IMO).
Dr. Joel Brown, PhD.
Dr. Brown is a member of the Integrated Mathematical Oncology group at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida. Dr. Brown is also a distinguished professor emeritus at the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Brown is an evolutionary ecologist with over 396 peer-reviewed publications and a leader in mathematical modeling of evolutionary and population dynamics. He is a world leader in applying principles of ecology and evolution to contain and cure cancer while enhancing the length and quality of the patients’ lives.
Dr. Carlo Maley, PhD.
Dr. Maley is the director of the Arizona Cancer and Evolution Center, the first president of the International Society for Evolution, Ecology and Cancer, co-founder and director of the Center for Evolution and Cancer at UCSF. He is currently an associate professor in The Biodesign Institute and the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University.
Dr. Dawn Lemanne, MD MPH
Dr. Lemanne is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona and a Stanford-trained, board-certified medical oncologist. Her professional interests include translation of emerging principles of cancer evolution into the clinic, including adaptive therapy models to decrease treatment resistance, and manipulation of metabolism to augment conventional cancer treatment.
Dr. Alexander (Sandy) Anderson, PhD.
Dr. Anderson is the Founding Richard O. Jacobson Chair of the Integrated Mathematical Oncology (IMO) department and Co-Director of the Physical Sciences in Oncology Center (PSOC) at Moffitt Cancer Center. For the last 20 years he has been developing mathematical models of many different aspects of tumor progression and treatment that require a tight dialogue between theory and experiment. He has over 100 peer-reviewed, scientific publications, is a Principal Investigator of several NIH/NCI grants.
Dr. Gaymon Bennett, PhD
Dr. Gaymon is a co-founder and fellow of the Center for Biological Futures in the division of basic sciences at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He is also a principal of ARC [Anthropological Research on the Contemporary] and was a founding co-designer of the Human Practices Initiative at the multi-university Synthetic Biology Engineering Research Center (SynBERC). He led Human Practices at the International Open Facility Advancing Biotechnology (BIOFAB) at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. These experiments emphasize collaborative empirical inquiry, a shift from theory to shared concept work, and sustained attention to the culture and politics of knowledge production.
